"And all these blessings shall come upon you and
overtake you, because..."
Deuteronomy 28:2,
NKJV
I love the magnitude of
God's blessings as described in Deuteronomy 28!
Notice verse 2…all of these
blessings will come upon us "because" of something…what is the big
"because"?
"And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God...." Because you "obeyed the voice of the Lord your God." God loves obedience! The Lord prefers obedience over sacrifice, duty, works or obligation. The Lord rewards us when we listen to and obey His voice. He causes blessings to overtake us! God's voice is revealed in His Word; when we obey the Word of the Lord, we position ourselves for His blessings.

Look at some of the blessings…
"And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God: 'Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.'" (Deuteronomy 28:2-6, NKJV)

- blessed in
the city and country – here and there!
- blessed
kids – and grandkids!
- blessed
job, vocation, occupation – even in a recession!
- blessed
when you're shopping – your basket is blessed even on the day after
Thanksgiving!
- blessed in
the grocery store and kitchen – your vital needs are met!
- blessed
everywhere – to be a blessing!
Isaiah 1:19 tells us the
same thing, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from
the land...." Read all of Deuteronomy 28 to discover the rest of the
blessings that may come upon you "because"...
Prayer: "Father, thank You for being a good God. You are a giver, a good Father, a 'blesser!’ I want to hear and obey Your voice in every area of my life. I thank You for the blessings that have already come into my life and thank You for all the blessings that will continue to overtake my life. I choose to be willing and obedient and I know I will eat the good of the land. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
