GOD'S WORD AND TEACHING

THE WORD AND TEACHING - EMPHASIS; RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HEARER

You have heard the statement the infallible Word of GOD; the word “Infallible” meaning; incapable of error or some such statement.

On the other hand teaching bears no such guarantee. Teaching is purported to be a true explanation of the infallible Word of GOD but like prophesy it is to be judged.

Sad to say much of teaching carries with it some hidden agenda whereby the hearers are manipulated by the speaker.

A more blatant example would be the Jim Jones debacle. While he preached his message under the guise of a church; his message was a mixture of socialism, communism, and an anti-God stance.

The people did not discern he was leading them down a deadly path and the result was indeed death.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.” (I Timothy 4:1-2)

When any teacher proclaims that they have the ability to expound or clarify the Word of GOD, it is the responsibility of the hearer to determine if they are proclaiming the true Word of GOD; or is it their opinion of what they believe the Bible should have said.

Psalm 1:1-3 says;  “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."

One who blindly follows false teaching is without excuse and will pay the price attached to false doctrine.

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption 2 Peter 2:12

It is incumbent on hearers of sermons to take notes and as the Berea people did verify and prove it to see if what is taught is accurate.

You need to test and prove it out for yourself.

Acts 17:10-11“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”

(Imagine checking what Paul the Apostle was teaching to see if it was in accord with the whole counsel of GOD)   So what is the conclusion to the whole matter;

“The preacher’s responsibility”

2 Timothy 4:2-4 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths

“The hearer’s responsibility”

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflows of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

(Verify and check out all “Teaching” as you study and search the Scriptures for yourself.)
